THE STORYLINES . . .
• Tulsa is in its 126th season of football in 2022.
• Tulsa has the smallest FBS enrollment with a total enrollment of 3,705 students … Tulane's enrollment is 13,449 students.
• Tulane comes into the game ranked 19th nationally in the latest Associated Press poll.
• This will be the second ranked opponent that Tulsa has faced this year … the Hurricane fell 35-27 to No. 13 Ole Miss earlier this season.
• The last two meetings between these two teams went to overtime with Tulsa winning both contests.
• Tulane comes into the game leading the AAC in total defense, allowing just 313.6 yards per game, while the Tulsa offense totals 434.2 yards.
THE SERIES . . .
• This is the 19th meeting between Tulsa and Tulane.
• Tulsa leads the series 13-5, including a 7-1 record at home while also holding a 5-4 advantage in New Orleans.
• The last two games have gone into overtime with Tulsa winning both contests … Tulsa held on for a 20-13 overtime win last year in New Orleans and a 30-24 two-overtime win at home in 2020.
• Tulane's win in Tulsa came in the 2016 season by a 24-17 score.
• After an opening series loss in 1968, the series resumed in 2005 with a Tulsa win to start an eight-game winning streak.
STOKES NO. 1 ON TULSA'S ALL-TIME RECEIVING CHART . . .
• Keylon Stokes entered the season ranked ninth on the school's all-time receiving chart with 2,550 career yards.
• Stokes is now Tulsa's all-time leading receiver with 3,474, sub-planting a record that stood for 57 years … he entered the Temple game needing 28 yards to tie Twilley and ended the game with 37 yards on four receptions for 3,352 yards.
• In eight games, Stokes has accumulated 924 yards, five TDs, a 115.5 average per game on 53 receptions this year … he has totaled six 100+ receiving games this season.
QUICK HITS . . .
• After starting the season with just one offensive lineman with a previous start, Tulsa started the same offensive line for the fourth straight game last week vs. SMU.
• WR JC Santana reached the 2,000-yard career receiving mark against SMU and now has 2,035 yards.
• With nine more tackles, SAF Kendarin Ray will become the third player this season to reach the 200-tackle plateau … NKL Bryson Powers has 215 and LB Justin Wright 214.
• QB Braylon Braxton had a career-high three TD responsible game vs. SMU with two TD passes and one rushing touchdown.
PRINCE BREAKS OUT . . .
• RB Deneric Prince had a career-best 231 rushing yards on 20 carries for an 11.6 average per attempt at Temple … it was also the 8th highest rushing game in the FBS this season.
• The 231-yard performance tied for the 10th most in school history and it marked the 26th time Tulsa had a player surpass 200 rushing yards, and the 20th different runner to do so.
• For his performance, Prince was named the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose National Offensive Player of the Week.
• It was Tulsa's first 200-yard rushing game since 2019 when Shamari Brooks had 202 yards on 16 carries in the season finale at East Carolina.
• A week later, Prince had 86 yards for a 4.5 average per carry vs. SMU… he now has 383 yards and 3 TDs in 4 games for a 95.7 average per game.
• Prince has four 100+ rushing games in his career … the 231-yard game bettered his previous career-high of 151 yards vs. UC Davis in the 2021 season opener.
STOKES AMONG NATION'S TOP RECEIVERS . . .
• Keylon Stokes ranks third in the nation for receiving yards per game with a 115.5 average behind SMU's Rashee Rice's 122.8 yards and Old Dominion's Ali Jennings' 116.1-yard average.
• His 924 yards also ranks third in the FBS, trailing Rice (982) and Jennings (929).
• Stokes also ranks 16th for receptions per game (6.6) and 24th for all-purpose yards (126.3).
• Stokes was added to the Biletnikoff Award Watch List on Oct. 5.
• In American Athletic Conference history, Stokes is the just the fifth player to reach 3,000 career receiving yards … he currently ranks fourth overall and needs 116 yards to tie Memphis' Anthony Miller (2105-17) for third place … he is 475 yards shy of tying the AAC career leader James Proche (2016-19) who totaled 3,949 yards at SMU.
COMPLIMENTING STOKES . . .
• Keylon Stokes is not the only receiving weapon for the Hurricane … JuanCarlos Santana, Malachai Jones and Isaiah Epps have also made an impact this season.
• Stokes has a team-high 924 yards and 5 TDs for a 115.5 average per game, while Tulsa's next three receivers have totaled 1,259 yards for an average of 157.4 yards per game and 11 touchdowns
• Santana is next with 569 yards, Jones has 355 yards and Epps has 335 yards.
• With Stokes, the four receivers have combined for 16 touchdown receptions … Stokes and Epps lead the way wiith five TDs.
200 TACKLES . . .
• Three Tulsa defenders entered the season within reach of the 200+ career tackle mark –– LB Justin Wright, NKL Bryson Powers and SAF Kendarin Ray.
• Wright entered the season with 152 career tackles, Powers with 144 and Ray with 136.
• Against Navy, Wright's 13 tackles put him over the 200-tackle plateau with 203 stops and now has 214 tackles in 44 career games.
• Powers had nine stops at Temple to give him 204 tackles …he now has 215 stops in 54 career games.
• Ray is nine tackles shy of the 200 plateau … he now has 191 stops in 35 career games.
