
Tulsa Softball Hosts Abilene Christian for Wednesday Doubleheader

Tulsa plays two games on Wednesday before playing at the Rock Chalk Challenge over the weekend.

TULSA, Okla. – The Tulsa Golden Hurricane hosts the Abilene Christian Wildcats for a Wednesday doubleheader before heading north to Lawrence for the Rock Chalk Challenge, where Tulsa will take on Nebraska and host Kansas twice, and South Dakota once.

First pitch for Wednesday's game one is set for 3 p.m. with the second game to follow at 5 p.m. or roughly 30 minutes after the conclusion of game one. ACU comes into the game with a 12-12 record after sweeping a weekend against fellow WAC opponent Lamar. The Hurricane and Wildcats have met twice in the past, both neutral field games, with each team taking a win.

The young Hurricane team sits at 8-14 after going 2-2 at the Texas Tech Invitational over the weekend. Tulsa's Haley Morgan has team-highs with a .343 batting average and 23 hits, while freshman Celeste Wood bats .333 with team-highs of 24 RBI, nine doubles and three triples.

On the mound, senior Samantha Pochop leads a group of four hurlers with a 3.11 ERA and 73 strikeouts. She's held opposing batters to a .226 batting average.

Rylee Keith was named to the American Athletic Conference Honor Roll for her performance over the past week. The junior catcher hit .455 with a home run, triple, double and three RBIs in four games.

In weekend action, Tulsa will start play in the Rock Chalk Challenge against Nebraska at 10 a.m. Friday, followed by a 5:30 p.m. matchup against host Kansas. On Saturday, the Hurricane will open with South Dakota at 10 a.m. before a 12:30 rematch with the Cornhuskers. Tulsa will finish the weekend with a game on Sunday against the Jayhawks at 12:30 p.m.

Nebraska enters the week with a 15-7 record after taking 2-of-3 last weekend. It's one loss came to The American's UCF, 7-3. The Cornhuskers play a doubleheader at San Diego in the midweek before heading to Kansas. South Dakota is 13-6 after playing in the Memphis Tournament and going 1-3. SDU plays three games before the Jayhawk Invitational.

Finally, the host Jayhawks will bring an 8-13 record into their tournament. They're coming off a weekend of the Jayhawk Invitational, where they lost to Iowa and Wichita State before taking down SEMO 8-0 in the finale.
