STILLWATER, Okla.
– After the first conference weekend of the season, the Tulsa Golden Hurricane is headed to Stillwater for a midweek matchup with the Oklahoma State Cowgirls Wednesday evening at Cowgirl Stadium.

First pitch is set for 6 p.m. and will air ESPN+. Casey Kendrick will bring the action and Alison McCutchen will serve as the color analyst.

This will mark the 54th meeting in an all-time series Tulsa trails 22-31. The teams will meet twice this season, with Tulsa hosting the Cowgirls on April 20. OSU and TU met just once a year ago as the return match was canceled. The No. 9 Cowgirls won that matchup 7-0.

Tulsa brings a 12-18-1 record into Wednesday's game after going 1-1-1 against Houston in the American Athletic Conference opener this past weekend, which included Tulsa's first tie since the 2013 season. Tulsa won the opening matchup 9-1 in five innings, its first run rule win of the season. Houston took game two in a barnburner, 13-11. Game three reached the 3:15 p.m. drop-dead time agreed to prior to first pitch, resulting in a 2-2 tie that ended with a Tulsa runner on second with nobody out.

Haley Morgan and Abby Jones currently lead the team in hitting, with batting averages of .333 and .319. Jones made the leap after batting .600 over the weekend including her first career home run, earning her a spot on the conference honor roll. Celeste Wood leads the team in extra-base hits with 11 doubles, three triples and a pair of home runs.

Pochop's performances against Houston helped her make the conference honor roll for the second time this season. She threw two complete games and boasted a 1.40 ERA with 12 strikeouts.

For the season, she leads a group of four hurlers with an ERA of 2.73. She also keeps batters off-balance, holding them to a .219 average with 109 strikeouts. With six more strikeouts, Pochop will tie her career high for a single season.

After a slow opening two weeks, Oklahoma State has been one of the hotter teams in the nation, winning 18 of its last 20, including seven-straight, to bring a 24-6 (3-0 Big 12) record into Wednesday. The Cowgirls opened Big 12 play by sweeping Texas Tech, who Tulsa faced earlier in the season. OSU outscored the Red Raiders 32-3, including a shutout in game one and two five-inning games on Saturday and Sunday.

Katelynn Carwile leads the team with a .429 batting average and has played in 27 games for OSU this season. Chyenne Factor has a team-high nine home runs and 15 walks, while Julia Cottril hits .319 with eight home runs and a team-leading 22 RBI.

In the circle, Kelly Maxwell has been near unhittable while garnering an 11-0 record in 14 appearances and 12 starts. She has a 1.14 ERA with seven complete games and five shutouts. The redshirt junior has only allowed 14 total runs while striking out 145 and walking 37.

After the Wednesday matchup, Tulsa will continue its roadtrip with a series against Wichita State for the second weekend of conference play. The Golden Hurricane will get the weekend series started on Friday with a 5 p.m. first pitch.
