Tulsa Golfers in 4th Place After Day One at AAC Championship

PINEHURST, NC –– Due to expected inclement weather on Monday, teams played the first round of the American Athletic Conference Championship Sunday as well as the first nine holes of the second round at the par-72 Pinehurst No. 6 course.
The second round is expected to be completed on Monday.
Tulsa is in 4th place with a 17-over par score after 27 rounds. The Hurricane shot 3-under par after nine holes in second round play. Tulsa got off to a rough start in first round action with a 19-over par score of 307.
Houston sits in first place at 7-over par, followed by UCF and Memphis, tied at +15, while Tulsa is two strokes behind those two teams with a 17-over par score to round out the top-4 schools.
Tulsa's Lilly Thomas and Lovisa Gunnar ended the first day at 2-over par and sit in a 5th place tie entering the final nine holes of the second round on Monday. Sydney Seigel is in 12th place with a 3-over par score. In first round play, Gunnar shot 73, while Thomas and Seigel each carded rounds of 76.
Thomas scored 2-under for the first nine holes of the second round, while Seigel was 1-under and Gunnar was 2-over par.
Sophie Johnson is in 42nd place after a first-round 82 and a 2-over par score through the first nine holes of second round play
The final 18 holes will be played on Tuesday.
