
Golden Hurricane Welcomes Sixth-Ranked Cowgirls

TULSA, Okla. – The University of Tulsa softball team is set for its first home game of April when the Golden Hurricane hosts No. 6 Oklahoma State at the Collins Family Softball Complex on Wednesday afternoon.
First pitch is set for 5 p.m. and will air on ESPN+. Brandon Hart and Brooke Smart will bring fans the action.
The game is officially sold out and no tickets will be sold at the gate. However, donors with All-Sport Passes and students will still be admitted entry.
Tulsa (14-24-1, 3-5-1 American Athletic Conference) enters Wednesday's matchup after winning its first conference series of the season, taking two of three against the Memphis Tigers over the weekend.
The Hurricane held a 6-1 advantage heading into the bottom of the seventh of game one and were able to weather a late charge, winning 6-5 after Kylee Nash picked up her first save of the season. Kylie Norwood hit a two-run home run in game two but runs in the first and second helped Memphis secure a 5-3 win.
In game three, Samantha Pochop pitched a brilliant complete game one-hitter to lift Tulsa to a 1-0 win. Rylee Keith delivered the big hit in the top of the seventh, a single that brought in the game's only run.
Norwood finished the weekend batting .444 with two home runs and six RBIs, which earned her a spot on The American's weekly honor roll. She's improved her batting average to .312 on the season, third behind Haley Morgan (.317) and Abby Jones (.330). Freshman Celeste Wood still holds the team lead with 30 RBIs.
Pochop leads a group of four hurlers with a 3.74 ERA. She's put in 127.1 innings of work over 26 appearances with a career-high 128 strikeouts. She finished the weekend 2-0. Nash picked up the first save for a Hurricane pitcher, coming on in relief in the seventh against Memphis to secure the win.
Oklahoma State (34-7, 11-1 Big 12) has gone 9-1 since Tulsa visited on March 30. The Cowgirls are coming off a sweep of the Kansas Jayhawks, winning 9-4, 6-0 and 10-2 in five innings.
Katelynn Carwile is batting .418 to lead the Cowgirls' offense. She's also driven in 24 runs, which is tied for third most. Sydney Pennington leads the team with 34 RBIs and has nine home runs, which is second to Chyenne Factor's 10.
The Cowgirls took the earlier meeting in Stillwater, 10-0 in five innings, giving them a 32-22 series lead. Tulsa holds a 12-9 record at home against OSU and won the last matchup in Tulsa 3-0 in 2019.

First pitch for Friday has been moved to 6 p.m., Saturday to 3 p.m. and Sunday will have a 10 a.m. start. All games will air on ESPN+.
