Quinn Turner scored a hat trick, while Jordan Frederick added two goals, and Isold Runarsdottir and Haley Nichols each posted one goal to give Tulsa a 7-0 win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Sunday afternoon at the Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium. The Golden Hurricane moved to 4-3-1 on the season, while the Lady Golden Lions fell to 3-5 overall.
"Our offensive attack almost didn't show up as it took us almost 38 minutes to score a goal, but once we made a commitment to going forward and trying to score goals we did," Head Coach Jim Rhein said. "We subbed in Quinn Turner, Isold Runarsdottir and Jordan Martinez and that changed the game for us."
This was TU's first hat trick since Claire Nicholson had one against Nicholls State on August 26, 2012, and the 17th in program history.
Tulsa will return to action on Thursday, September 15 against Temple beginning at 7:00 pm at the Hurricane Stadium.
How it Happened:
Quinn Turner put Tulsa on the board at the 37:55 mark as she drilled in a shot from 16 yards out. Her shot went from the left side into the right post and into the back of the net.
Turner then assisted on Isold Runarsdottir's goal in the 44th minute as she one-timed the ball to Runarsdottir who punched in her shot from 12 yards out from right to left.
Turner then punched in her own rebound attempt from six yards out with just 15 seconds remaining in the first half to give TU a 3-0 lead at the break.
TU's first half goals were scored in a 6:50 time span off the clock.
Turner earned the hat trick at the 52:27 mark as she drilled in a shot from six yards out up the middle off a rebound attempt taken by Jordan Frederick.
Frederick flicked in a goal from two yards out off a cross into the center of the goal by Turner in the 66th minute. Haley Nichols added a goal in the 69th minute and then Frederick added her second score in the 70th minute to give TU the 7-0 win.
