STILLWATER, Okla. – The Golden Hurricane men's and women's cross country teams return to the Greiner Family OSU Cross Country Course for the second time this season as the teams compete in the NCAA Midwest Regionals Friday morning.
The women's 6k race will start at 10:30 a.m. with the men's 10k scheduled for an 11:30 start. Tulsa opened the season with the Cowboy Preview on Sept. 1, a curtain raiser for the 2023 cross country campaign.
The men enter race day as the defending champions of the regional. In last season's race in Columbia, Mo., the Tulsa men captured their second regional title, edging out Oklahoma State in a tiebreaker.
TU is coming off its 10th straight American Athletic Conference title, and 14th consecutive, overall. However, Tulsa enters as the fourth seed in the region behind the Loyola-Chicago, Iowa State and the hosts, Oklahoma State. The Hurricane likely need to finish in one of the two auto qualifier positions to extend its NCAA streak to six seasons.
The men will run the same seven who finished The American Championships. Charlie Krasnoff, Malte Propp, Chris McLeod, Johnny Livingstone and Christian Baker earned all-conference honors and will compete again on Friday. Krasnoff finished fourth and earned freshman of the year honors. Sean Korsmo and Luke Birdseye both finished top-25 and will run in Friday's regional.
The women saw its title streak snapped at four after placing fourth in The American Championships on Oct. 28. Robyn Kowalski was the team's top finisher, placing 14th to earn all-conference status. The Tulsa women are seeking to get back to the NCAA Championship for the first time since 2020.
Chloe Hershenow finished fourth in last season's regional to earn an individual spot in the NCAA Championship. Hershenow and Kowalski are joined by Katharina Pesendorfer, Alicen Ashley, McKenna Terell and Amy Morefield on the course Friday. Pesendorfer and Kowalski also ran in the Midwest Regional last season.
