The Golden Hurricane finishes the weekend with a 1-4 record after its first five games of the season.
The offense just couldn't get it rolling on Sunday as Tulsa was outscored 15-1 and outhit 17-8. Claira Skaggs finished the day 3-for-4 and scored Tulsa's lone run. HOW IT HAPPENED – Tulsa 1, Texas Tech 12
The Red Raiders wasted no time in jumping out to a large lead early. After setting the Golden Hurricane down in order, Tech got a leadoff single to get things started. After a strikeout, a batter was hit by a pitch and then TTU took a 3-0 lead with a 3-run homer.
Self-inflicted mistakes cost the Hurricane as four straight walks brought in the fourth run of the inning, followed by a two-base error and suddenly Tulsa trailed 6-0. Two wild pitches brought in two more runs to make it 8-0.
Tulsa scored its only run of the game in the second after loading the bases with only one out. However, the Hurricane was not able to take full advantage scoring on a two-out walk to make it 8-1. The next batter flew out and left the bags stranded.
Texas Tech added to its lead in the bottom of the frame thanks to a two-run homer and later a double with a runner on second. Tech would tack on one more run in the bottom of the third to end the scoring. Tulsa advanced a runner to third in the third but went down in order in the final two innings.

HOW IT HAPPENED – Tulsa 0, UT Arlington 3
Similarly, to last night's game, UT Arlington and Tulsa remained scoreless for much of the matchup on Sunday, but the Mavericks threatened early.
Wood doubled with two outs in the opening frame for the first hit of the game, but she was left there. The Mavericks loaded the bases with its first three batters in the bottom of the frame. But Moore settled in and forced a ground ball to short, which resulted in an out at home, a fly out to shallow center that kept the runners at their bags and then a strikeout to end the threat.
The Hurricane failed to get a runner to second until the fifth inning as Tulsa went in order in the second, managed a single in the third inning and again in the fourth, though it was erased by a double play. Gracie Jarvis made it to first on a two-out single in the fifth and a Morgan single up the middle moved her to second. But Tulsa couldn't find the much-needed hit as a ground out to the second baseman shut down the opportunity.
UT Arlington found its breakthrough in the fourth inning starting with a leadoff single. The Mavericks advanced the runner with a sacrifice and then a single up the middle brought in the first run. A two-out double would make it 2-0. The Mavericks added an insurance run in the sixth, utilizing small ball with a trio of singles and then scoring on a fielder's choice.
Tulsa picked up another base hit in the sixth with two outs but was unable to put together any momentum. In the seventh, UT Arlington's Jessica Adams finished her complete game effort by inducing three consecutive ground outs. The pitcher went seven complete allowing only six hits and did not strike out or walk any Tulsa batter.
