COMMERCE, Texas –– The Tulsa women's soccer team came up short against Texas A&M – Commerce, falling 2-0 on Thursday evening at Lion Soccer Field. TU dropped to 0-3 on the season, while the Lions improved to 1-1-1, overall.
Tulsa will return to action on Sunday, August 27 when the Golden Hurricane welcomes in-state rival ORU to the Hurricane Soccer Stadium.
How it Happened
Texas A&M – Commerce took the lead in the 11th minute off a goal from Kaydence Ramirez. Mya Mitchell sent in a corner and found the head of Ramirez on the left side of the box. Her shot found its way into the netting on the right side of the goal to give the Lions a 1-0 lead.
The Golden Hurricane nearly tied the match in the 76th minute, when Maggie SymSmith smashed a shot off the crossbar from outside the box.
The Lions doubled their lead with just over four minutes to play. Ashley Campuzano was fouled in the box, drawing a penalty kick for Texas A&M – Commerce. She stepped up to take it herself, scoring to the right side to give the hosts a 2-0 lead.
