Tulsa Cross Country Competes at Cowboy Preview

STILLWATER, Okla. – The Golden Hurricane men's and women's cross-country teams began the season with the Cowboy Preview on Friday morning, with the men placing second and the women fourth at the Greiner Family Cross Country Course.
The 21st-ranked men's team put together a team score of 34 in the 5k, finishing eight behind Arkansas. The hosts, Oklahoma State, placed third with 72 points and OU came in fourth with a team score of 105.
Johnny Livingstone and Charlie Krasnoff paced the Hurricane, taking third and fourth with times of 15:09.0 and 15:12.4. Chris McLeod placed seventh and Chanel Muir ninth, giving Tulsa four runners in the top 10. Sean Korsmo (12th), Ryan Shumaker (13th) and Colton Berquist (19th) all grabbed top 20 placements on Friday.
The Tulsa women placed fourth with a team score of 105. Arkansas swept the day with the women winning and having six of the first seven finishers and seven in the top 10. Oklahoma State placed second, SMU third, Oklahoma fifth and Central Oklahoma sixth.
The Hurricane ran as a pack, with the five scorers taking places 23 through 27 in the 3k race. Chloe Hershenow led the way with a time of 11:11.9, edging out Alicen Ashley, Katharina Pesendorfer and Robyn Kowalski, who finished with times of 11:12.0, 11:12.0 and 11:12.1, respectively. Avery Hill was a step behind them, finishing in 11:14.5.
The Golden Hurricane cross-country teams will return to action near the end of the month. Tulsa will compete in the Loyola Lakefront Invitational in Chicago, Ill. on Sept. 29. Some runners will compete in the Chile Pepper Festival that evening in Fayetteville, Ark.
