IRVING, Texas — For her late-game heroics in the regular-season finale at No. 19 Memphis, true freshman forward Blaine Schutte was chosen as the American Athletic Conference's final women's soccer Freshman of the Week, the league announced Friday. She's the first Tulsa player to earn the award – previously Rookie of the Week – since Tatum Sanders on Oct. 10, 2022.

A native of Eureka, Mo., Schutte helped save the season for Tulsa when she netted an 84th-minute goal from teammate Hannah Chance against the nationally-ranked Tigers to tie the game late at 1-1. Memphis had only given up three goals all season to conference opponents.

The Golden Hurricane would finish the league schedule with a 3-5-2 record for a tie for eighth place with UTSA. Because TU took down the Roadrunners 2-1 in San Antonio on Oct. 10, Tulsa had the head-to-head tiebreaker that awarded the Hurricane with the eighth and final spot in The American Championship.

Tulsa will rematch Memphis, the tournament's No. 1 seed, at 6:30 p.m. Central in the AAC quarterfinals at the Premier Sports Campus in Lakewood, Fla., on Monday, Nov. 4. The game will stream on ESPN+.
