IRVING, Texas – A trio of Golden Hurricane women's soccer players have been selected to year-end American Athletic Conference all-conference awards, announced by The American Sunday and voted on by the league's coaches. Leah Diaz (second team), Aniya Facen (all-freshman team) and Blaine Schutte (third team and all-freshman team) combined for four awards ahead of TU's quarterfinal matchup with the No. 1 seed and 19th-ranked Memphis Tigers on Monday night.

Diaz, a sophomore forward from Richardson, Texas, emerged as a relentless attacker for the Hurricane offense in 2024, finishing the regular season tied for third in The American with Schutte with 20 points resulting from seven goals and six assists, both top-five marks in the league. She recorded the most shots for TU (48) and consistently attacked the net to help the Tulsa offense finish as the second-highest-scoring unit in the conference. Diaz was also responsible for a pair of game-winning goals, including the 5-2 winner over Central Arkansas in the season opener and the 2-1 home victory over Texas A&M-Commerce.

A true freshman forward from Norman, Okla., Facen scored 10 points this season off two goals and six assists, the second-highest mark on the team and third-most assists in the AAC. She scored her first career goal in the waning seconds at Kansas City and then recorded the game-winner at UTSA in a 2-1 decision that ended up giving the TU women the head-to-head tiebreaker over the Roadrunners that awarded the Hurricane with the eighth and final spot in The American Championship.

Schutte, a forward from Eureka, Mo., enjoyed a successful freshman campaign for Tulsa as a two-time American Weekly Honorable Mention and one-time selection for AAC Freshman of the Week, completing the regular season first in the conference with nine goals, tied only with the offensive player of the year Leah Chancey of Rice. Schutte recorded a hat trick against Arkansas-Pine Bluff, becoming just the fifth freshman in program history and the third player in the league to achieve the feat this season, finishing with six goals in nonconference action. In conference play, she had a brace at Temple, including the game-winner, and sent in the game-tying score at No. 19 Memphis last week to keep TU's season alive and send the Hurricane to The American Championship as the eight-seed.

Kickoff between the Hurricane and Tigers is set for 6:30 p.m. Central in Lakewood, Fla. The game will stream on ESPN+.
