The Hurricane ends home season with 15-4 record

TULSA, Okla. – The visiting UTSA Roadrunners saved its best performance for a 10-4 victory in the series finale and spoiling the final home game for nine Golden Hurricane seniors at the Collins Family Softball Complex Sunday afternoon.

Tulsa fell to 29-19 overall and 14-10 in American Athletic Conference play, while the Roadrunners improved to 14-39 and 4-20 in league play.

UTSA came into today's contest with zero runs on only two hits in the previous two games but exploded for 10 runs on 12 hits as Tulsa used four pitchers in the series finale. Five UTSA pitchers limited the Hurricane to just five hits.

Two of the Tulsa's hits were solo home runs, coming from Imani Edwards and Kailyn Bearpaw. Edwards also added a triple. UTSA had three players with two hits each, as Jaylen Prichard led the way with three hits and one walk. Lindsey Davis and Sophie Campbell had highs of three RBI apiece.

Prichard opened the game with a double to right field, giving the visitors their first hit since the third inning of Friday's game. She scored on Campbell's right field single before Tulsa got out of the inning on a double play, but the Roadrunners grabbed the early 1-0 lead.

The Hurricane stranded runners on second and third in the bottom half of the first inning.

In the third, the Roadrunners put four runners on the bases and added a second run when Davis singled up the middle scoring Taylor Jensen for a 2-0 lead.

Edwards' blast over the right field fence in the bottom of the third inning began a two-run inning for the Hurricane. With two outs Morgan walked, stole second and scored on a Claira Skaggs triple as the inning ended with the score tied at 2 runs apiece.

UTSA responded in the top of the fourth by loading the bases with one out and scoring four runs, just one earned. After two runners reached base and one out, Maura Moore relieved Kylee Nash on the mound. The Roadrunners tagged Moore for three singles and ended their half of the inning with a 6-2 lead.

Bearpaw began the Tulsa half-inning with a shot over the left centerfield fence for Tulsa's third run of the game. Tulsa stranded one at second base as the teams entered the fifth inning with UTSA leading 6-3.

In the fifth, Moore put down the first two batters before a throwing error put a runner on second and a single put UTSA runners at second and third base before a foul out ended the Roadrunners half of the inning. But, Tulsa went down 1-2-3 with five innings in the books.

Erykah Guerrero's blast over the centerfield fence in the sixth inning gave the Roadrunners a four-run advantage at 7-3.

Tulsa had runners at second and third, reaching base on walks, in the sixth inning, but couldn't get them across the plate.

UTSA added three runs in the seventh to take a 10-3 lead, before Edwards scored Tulsa's final run in the bottom of the seventh to make the final score 10-4.
