
Imani Edwards Earns NFCA All-Central Region Third Team Accolades

TULSA, Okla. – Golden Hurricane shortstop Imani Edwards was named to 2024 NFCA All-Central Region Third Team, as announced by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA).
This is the 41st NFCA All-Region selection for the University of Tulsa softball program. It is the second consecutive year Edwards earned All-Central Region Third Team Honors.
"The Central Region is so tough with a lot of standout softball players," Tulsa head coach Crissy Strimple said. "For Imani to make the All-Central Region Third Team really puts an exclamation point on an outstanding season and career. It solidifies the type of athlete that she is and how she has improved year after year."
Edwards, a senior shortstop out of Tomball, Texas, finished the season with a .370 batting average, ranking second-best on the team and fifth in the conference. She recorded seven doubles, a team-high five triples, five home runs and drove in 34 runs while leading the team with 43 runs scored. Edwards was successful on 15 stolen base attempts and walked nine times. The senior was one of the hardest hitters in the nation to strike out, going down on strikes just nine times in 173 at-bats.
The award honors softball student-athletes from the Association's 10 regions with a first, second and third-team selections. In all, the NFCA honored 376 student-athletes from 160 different programs. The teams were selected by votes from NFCA member coaches in each region.
The Golden Hurricane is in the Central Region. Those competing for the spots in the Central Region include student-athletes from the University of Oklahoma, Texas, Louisiana, Wichita State, Baylor, Florida Atlantic, Nebraska, Houston and many others.
