IRVING, Texas — The University of Tulsa's Chloe Hershenow was named the American Athletic Conference Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week, the league announced Tuesday. The three-time Golden Hurricane cross country conference champion, two-time cross country all-conference harrier and 2022 AAC Women's Athlete of the Year brings home her first career weekly accolade from The American.

Hershenow, a redshirt senior from St. Louis, is the third Tulsa woman to bring home The American's top weekly cross country honor, joining Rachel Baptista (2013-15) on Oct. 20, 2015, and Caitlin Klopfer (2016-21) on Sept. 24, 2019.

At Wichita State's JK Gold Classic on Sept. 7, Hershenow out-raced all competitors on the 5K Clapp Cross Country Course in 17:16.49 for first place, leading a top-five sweep of the meet for the Golden Hurricane women, who scored a perfect 15 points to beat out the next two teams, North Texas and Wichita State by 55 and 57 points, respectively.

The Tulsa women's next meet is Missouri's Gans Creek Classic on Friday, Sept. 27, while the men's cross country team's next action is on that same Friday at the Wisconsin Nuttycombe Invitational.
