How it Happened
Temple got on the board first when Yao Zhou sent the ball flying into the upper left corner in the 18th minute of the game. An unassisted score from just outside the goal area, it was her second goal of the season.
Just over two minutes later, Tulsa tied it up off a well-placed kick from F Leah Diaz who fielded it from F Jordan Frederick and sent it flying past the outstretched goalkeeper's hands and into the net.
The Hurricane grabbed its first lead of the day at the 28th minute when MF Maggie SymSmith sent a free kick perfectly into the penalty box, where F Blaine Schutte's head met the ball in midair to send it up into the corner of the goal.
In the 44th minute, Temple made it a tie ballgame when Shari Atkinson rolled the ball in from within the goal area. The scoreboard read 2-2 entering halftime.
Schutte decided she wasn't done scoring on the day as the true freshman fielded a pass from Diaz, juked out a defender at the top of the penalty area and shot the ball into the lower right corner of the net. It would go down as the game-winning goal as Tulsa held off a desperate Owls squad looking for their first conference win of the season. The final score read 3-2 Hurricane.
