TULSA, Okla. — Tulsa and Missouri State battled to a scoreless draw on Wednesday night at Hurricane Soccer & Track Stadium.
The match between Tulsa and Missouri State began with both teams struggling to find the net in the first half, resulting in a scoreless draw. Tulsa's Alex Cunningham had two attempts, with shots in the 10th and 18th minutes, both missing the target. These two shots brought Cunningham to 19 on the season. Missouri State's Alex Matthews and Jared Harlock also had opportunities, but their shots went wide in the 16th and 32nd minutes, respectively. The half was marked by multiple fouls from both sides, disrupting the flow of play and keeping the score level at the break.
The second half began with both Tulsa and Missouri State looking to break the deadlock. Tulsa's Jake Reich attempted an early shot in the 46th minute, but the Bears' defense held firm. Missouri State responded with several shots, including attempts by Ollie Bate and Harry Hogben, but Tulsa goalkeeper Carlito Saylon made crucial saves to keep the score level. Saylon's three saves in the match brought his season total to 35. Both teams had opportunities, with Will Applegate's shot in the 54th minute being saved by Missouri State's Will Lowry. Applegate's efforts contributed to his 19th and 20th shots of the season. Despite multiple corner kicks and shots from both sides, neither team managed to score, resulting in a goalless draw at the end of the match.
"We're just going to keep doing what we're doing. We've had a really good last four games and everything's been really high intensity," said Luke Adams following the draw. With the team's performance tonight, their matchup with FAU has even bigger conference tournament implications.
The Golden Hurricane stands at 4-8-3 overall with a 3-3-1 record in conference play. The Bears hold a 6-5-3 overall record, also going 3-3-1 in the conference.
In their next game, Tulsa will travel to face Florida Atlantic on Sunday, Nov. 2, at 6 p.m. CT in Boca Raton, Florida.
