Hovius and Reich Earn American Player of the Week Honors

TULSA, Okla. – Gijs Hovius was named the American Conference Offensive Player of the Week, while Jake Reich earned an honorable mention for Player of the Week honors on Oct. 6.
Hovius, a native of Voorthuizen, Netherlands, collected his first career conference weekly award after his performance against UAB. He scored in the 89th minute to break a 0-0 tie and lift Tulsa to victory, marking his second goal of the season and bringing his total to five points on the year. His other goal was also a game-winner, coming in the 71st minute against Central Arkansas.
Reich, in his first career game, assisted on Hovius' decisive goal against UAB to earn honorable mention recognition. He also recorded two shots on goal on two attempts in the match.
The Golden Hurricane will return to the pitch Tuesday night for the cross-town Mayor's Cup against Oral Roberts at the Case Soccer Complex. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
