IRVING, Texas — Coming off a championship in the Acrisure Holiday Invitational, Jaylen Lawal was named the American Conference Freshman of the Week while Miles Barnstable earned Conference Player of the Week Honorable Mention.

He was 4-of-7 from the field, hit a pair of threes, and made both of his free throw attempts in the win. In the team's 30-point win over San Jose State, Lawal had seven points to go along with three rebounds for the Golden Hurricane.
Barnstable was named the event's MVP, scoring 14 points against San Jose State and 11 against Northern Iowa. The senior hit the biggest shot of the game against UNI, with under 90 seconds left, his three-pointer made it a two-possession game and ended up being the decisive basket. He was 5-for-9 from long range over the two games and grabbed nine rebounds.
The Golden Hurricane are back in action tomorrow when they host Manhattan Christian with tip-off scheduled for 7 p.m. in the Reynolds Center.
