Tulsa Falls at No.16/15 Oklahoma State

STILLWATER, Okla. – The Golden Hurricane was held to just one hit in a five-inning 9-1 loss against Oklahoma State at Cowgirl Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Tulsa finishes the weekend 3-2 and is 10-10 on the season. The Hurricane will open conference play next weekend at home against the Memphis Tigers. Oklahoma State improves to 14-4 on the season after a pair of Sunday wins against TU and Drake in the Cowgirl opening day at home.
Faith Russell picked up the team's only hit, an infield single in the top of the third that moved Maci Cole, who had drawn a walk, to second. Tulsa batters struck out nine times, including three in a row on two occasions. No Cowgirls were struck out in the contest.
Maura Moore (6-5) took the loss, allowing seven runs on five hits with a pair of in one inning of work. Alexa Hopkins came in to finish the second inning and pitched two innings of two-run ball, allowing two hits and walking two. Brinly Maples finished the game for the Hurricane, facing three batters and not letting any reach safely.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Oklahoma State got to work immediately in the bottom of the first. Megan Delgadillo drew a leadoff walk and then promptly stole both second and third. She was driven in by a Rosie Davis groundout to short. After a walk, a double play ended the threat.
The Cowgirls blew the game open in the second with six runs on six hits. A triple led off the inning before a bunt single and a walk loaded the bases as part of six straight hits before an out was recorded. The Cowgirls picked up the runs on a two-RBI single, a two-RBI double, a single that drove in one run and a groundout brought in the sixth and final run of the inning as OSU extended its lead to 7-0.
After a scoreless third, the Cowgirls added two more runs in the fourth. Consecutive walks and stolen bases put OSU on second and third with nobody out. An error on a fielder's choice opportunity allowed both runs to score unearned and OSU jumped ahead 9-0, which would serve as the final.
