TULSA, Okla. — The University of Tulsa cross country and track and field teams have added a pair of assistant coaches to the 2025-26 rosters. Oklahoma State All-Big 12 performer and 2024-25 Cowboys graduate assistant Wyatt Landis will bring his long-distance expertise to the Golden Hurricane as a full-time assistant coach, while all-time great Illinois State hurdler Brandon Ratliff comes to the 918 to fill in as an assistant sprints coach.

Hailing from Prosper, Texas, Landis was a student-athlete for OSU for five seasons (2020-2024). He was part of the 2023 national champion Cowboy cross country team and consistently helped the program reach national rankings every year of his career. He continued to aid in OSU's long-distance national acclaim as a graduate assistant last year, helping the Cowboys win the 2024 NCAA Midwest Cross Country Regional and finish 8th in the national meet with two All-Americans.

"We are extremely excited to welcome Wyatt Landis to the coaching staff at Tulsa," said Head Men's Cross Country and Track Coach Taylor Gulley. "Wyatt comes from a National Championship-winning program in Oklahoma State and brings a wealth of knowledge about the sport to our program. Wyatt has been able to learn under of the best Cross Country coaches in the country in Dave Smith, so we're ready to get to work. I firmly believe Wyatt will be able to help us maintain a tradition of success at Tulsa & hopefully help elevate us to even greater heights soon."

"I've been aware of Tulsa track and cross country for a long time with the success they've had," said Landis. "I'm super excited to be a part of that and help in any way I can."

Landis double-majored at OSU, earning his bachelor's degrees in management and marketing in 2024. He is currently finishing up his master's degree in interdisciplinary studies.

A product of Grand Rapids, Mich., Ratliff was a four-year letterwinner and seven-time all-conference sprinter and hurdler for the Illinois State Redbirds track team. He competed in the indoor 200m and 60m hurdles as well as the outdoor 100m, 200m, and 110m hurdles. He finished with the third-best times in program history in both hurdle events and was a four-time recipient of the Missouri Valley Conference Male Track Athlete of the Week.

From May 2024 up until recently, Ratliff had been running his own speed performance business called Ace1 Training Performance. As founder and operator of the company, he specialized in speed training for track and field athletes, serving 30 clients annually. Ratliff designed customized training, plyometrics, and conditioning regimens focused on biomechanics, strength development, and explosive power to improve the speed, agility, strength, and endurance of athletes. He would often lead one-on-one and group training sessions with youth and high school athletes, using practical and supportive techniques.

"We're excited to welcome Brandon to the staff here at TU," said Gulley. "Not only will he aid in the development of our sprints and jumps program, but he also brings a wealth of knowledge and competition experience in the hurdle events and complements the skill set of our current staff extremely well. His energetic personality and passion for wholly developing athletes complements our staff's core beliefs."

"I'm excited to be here," Ratliff said. "I'm looking forward to coaching at a higher level. I enjoyed coaching at the high school level, and I had a successful college career as a student-athlete. I'm looking to give our athletes what I received in college in the hopes of really developing them."
