Tulsa Women Shutout Southern Nazarene 4-0

TULSA, Okla. — Tulsa (3-2-0, 0-0-0) secured a decisive 4-0 victory over Southern Nazarene (0-1-0, 0-0-0) on Thursday evening at Hurricane Soccer & Track Stadium, highlighted by three first-half goals.
The game opened with the Golden Hurricane charging offensively. Shots by Presley Boyd and Jordan Frederick, both just wide of the net, kept Tulsa moving. Boyd found the back of the net in the 13th minute off a pass from Frederick. Ady Bechtel earned the secondary assist on the goal. Following the score, Tulsa kept the momentum with a shot from Jordan Frederick six seconds after the kickoff. A yellow card on SNU's Millie Butler in the box led to a penalty kick goal from Aniya Facen. TU struck again in the 30th minute, with Blaine Schutte earning her 11th career goal. Frederick tallied another assist on the play, and Kaylyn Simmons got her first assist of the season to finish the first half 3-0.
The second half opened with the Golden Hurricane extending their lead, as Natalie Hernandez scored her first career goal with an assist from Simmons in the 47th minute, bringing the score to 4-0. Southern Nazarene's Samantha Most received a yellow card shortly before that goal. Tulsa's second goalkeeper of the game, Maddy Nigey, made a key save on a shot by Ashley Fuller in the 61st minute. Southern Nazarene struggled with offsides and fouls, while Tulsa maintained pressure with multiple shots, including attempts by Piper Szafranski and Maggie SymSmith. The match concluded without further scoring, cementing the home team's victory.
"I think it helps our confidence and goal-scoring abilities, showing that we can do these things and we can play as a team. It just really helps going into Sunday" said Tatum Sanders after the match.
With the win, Tulsa improved to 3-2-0 on the season. Impressively, all rostered field players for Tulsa saw minutes on the field, showcasing the team's depth.
The next challenge for Tulsa arrives on August 31, as they host Kansas City in a matchup set to kick off at 1 p.m. in Tulsa, Okla.
