Tulsa Women Play to Tie Against Little Rock

9/14/2025 2:47:00 PM | Women's Soccer

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Tulsa (5-3-2, 0-1-0) and Little Rock (2-3-2, 0-0-0) battled to a 3-3 draw Saturday afternoon at the Coleman Sports & Recreation Complex, with Tulsa scoring three second-half goals to equalize. This marked the first draw between the teams since 1987, which was the inaugural year for both programs.

Little Rock took an early lead against Tulsa, with Maria Schuller scoring in the 3rd minute. Tulsa struggled with offside calls early, being flagged three times within the first eight minutes. Little Rock extended their lead to 2-0 when Maggie Turner scored in the 9th minute, assisted by Amaya Arias. Despite Tulsa's efforts, including multiple corner kicks and shots, goalkeeper Peyton Urban made several crucial saves. Little Rock's Alexia Duarte received a red card in the 43rd minute, reducing them to ten players for the remainder of the match.

Tulsa and Little Rock entered the second half with Little Rock leading 2-0. Tulsa began the half aggressively, with Piper Szafranski and Jordan Frederick recording early shots, though both attempts were thwarted. Maggie SymSmith, who had a career high with four shots and four shots on goal, put Tulsa on the board with a penalty kick goal in the 54th minute. This was shortly followed by Natalie Hernandez's second goal of the season to bring the teams to even on the scoreboard. The hosts responded with a goal from Schuller in the 72nd minute to regain the lead, but Blaine Schutte's sixth goal of the season, off an assist from Kaleigh Hart, at 75:31 brought the teams back to a 3-3 draw, which held until the end of the half.

Tulsa holds a 5-3-2 overall record and is 0-1-0 in conference play following the draw. Little Rock stands at 2-3-2 overall with no conference matches recorded yet.

In their next game, Tulsa will host Temple in a home matchup on Sept. 18. The game is set for a 7 p.m. kickoff in Tulsa, Okla.
