BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Tulsa played UAB to a 1-1 tie on Friday at PNC Field. Tulsa finished with a narrow shot advantage, 17-15, while both teams put eight shots on goal.

After UAB put two early attempts toward goal, Saylon saved Carson Brice's shot in the eighth minute before Tulsa created back-to-back corners at 10:25 and 10:46. Bruno Medina and Jake Reich forced saves from Ethan Schulz less than a minute later, and Tulsa later broke through at 25:30 when Achermann-Stanfield converted a penalty kick to open the scoring. This was Achermann-Stanfield's fourth successful penalty kick of the season and marked his second consecutive match with a penalty goal. UAB pushed back in the final third of the half, but Saylon saved two Lucas Nordin shots and Omar Flores put another Tulsa attempt on frame to keep a 1-0 Tulsa lead into halftime.

After UAB's Rylie Siddall missed left to open the half Tulsa generated three quick shots from Kgodiso Sukati, Quentin Christey and Medina in the first minute of the second half. Saylon kept UAB off the board with saves on Carson Brice and Lucas Rizzo in the 55th minute, while Tulsa continued to create pressure with a Christey shot and corner kicks at 61:15 and 63:32. Tulsa generated another late attacking stretch with six shots from 75:59 to 84:41, including saved attempts by Jared Aguilar and Arnau Pedrola Fortuny and corners at 77:26 and 81:02. UAB pushed back with two corners and two shots in the 86th minute before Diego Quevedo scored at 88:04 to make it 1-1, and the match finished tied after late attempts from Will Applegate and Humphrey Doh. Saylon and Schulz held identical stat lines in goal, both making seven saves and allowing one goal.

Tulsa is 3-3-4 overall and 1-1-2 in conference play. UAB is 4-3-2 overall and 1-1-1 in conference play.
