TULSA, Okla. – Tulsa men's tennis (10-10) dropped matches against Pacific (6-9) and Penn (10-5) in a home doubleheader on Thursday.
Tulsa opened the day battling closely for the doubles point against Pacific, playing indoors due to the temperature. Gus Tettamble and Victor Tosetto quickly claimed a 6-1 win in the No. 3 position, while the other two courts battled back and forth to 3-3 scores. The Tigers struck next, taking a 6-4 victory over Takeshi Taco and Ruben Fernandez in their first match paired together this season. The point came down to the No. 1 court, where Calum Jestin and Connor Doig secured the doubles point for Tulsa with a dominant 7-0 tiebreak performance.
Singles was equally competitive. The Golden Hurricane first extended their lead with a 6-3, 6-1 victory from Jestin. Pacific responded with wins in the No. 2 and No. 3 positions to tie the match. Reiya Komagata put Tulsa back on top with a 6-4, 6-3 victory.
The final two matches went to third sets, with Pacific claiming both to secure a 4-3 win over Tulsa. Tettamble fell 6-4, 0-6, 3-6, while Taco ended the match with a 4-6, 7-5, 3-6 loss to Pacific's Jonty Giesen.
In the evening match on the outdoor courts, doubles was again tightly contested, though this time it favored Tulsa's opponent. Tulsa claimed the first win with a 6-3 victory from Nikita Volonski and Timothy Carlsson Seger, who both sat out the first match but returned to action in the evening. Penn secured the doubles point by taking the No. 1 and No. 3 matches, both of which required extra games. Jestin and Doig fell 5-7, while Tosetto and Tettamble dropped a 6-7 (2-7) tiebreak.
In singles, the Golden Hurricane put pressure on Penn but could not convert it into results. Doig fell first, dropping a 4-6, 2-6 match.
