
Maples Delivers Terrific Performance but Tulsa Falls in Pitchers’ Duel to ECU

TULSA, Okla. — Tulsa fell 2–0 to East Carolina on Saturday at the Collins Family Softball Complex. Tulsa was held to three hits, while East Carolina capitalized with two runs on seven hits.
Brinly Maples completed the game with a seven-inning performance, allowing two earned runs on seven hits while striking out one. Mackenzy Glenn, Faith Russell, and Amber Turner all had hits for the Golden Hurricane.
In the first inning, East Carolina's Trinity Nichols executed a sacrifice bunt, allowing Kanisha Anderson to score, giving East Carolina an early lead.
In the fifth inning, Tulsa's Amber Turner singled, followed by Russell who hit a single to center field. Despite this, Tulsa was unable to convert these hits into runs, as the inning ended with a double play. The score remained East Carolina 1, Tulsa 0.
During the seventh inning, East Carolina extended its lead when Chloe Geijer scored on a ground out by Anderson. This increased their advantage to 2–0. Tulsa's final inning ended without any runs, leaving the final score 2-0.
Tulsa hosts East Carolina tomorrow in the rubber match of the series, its final home game of 2026. After the game the team will honor its seniors on Senior Day.
