
Late Rally Comes Up Short on Senior Day

TULSA, Okla. — Tulsa fell to East Carolina 5–4 in a tightly contested game at the Collins Family Softball Complex on Sunday. The Golden Hurricane trailed early and rallied late, but the Pirates held on for the victory.
Faith Russell made a significant impact by hitting a home run, the first of her collegiate career, and driving in three runs while scoring twice. Emma Vickrey contributed with two hits in her performance. Maura Moore pitched 4.0 innings, striking out four batters, while Alexa Hopkins threw 3.0 innings in relief, also recording four strikeouts while surrendering one run.
East Carolina took an early lead in the second inning, scoring three runs. Alexis Morgan, pinch running, scored the first run on a single by Jenna Krol. Anna Sawyer's ensuing single brought in two more runs, driving in Krol and Kanisha Anderson. The score was 3–0 in favor of the Pirates after the second inning.
In the fifth inning, East Carolina extended its lead with a two-run home run by Trinity Nichols, bringing in Anderson. Tulsa responded in the bottom of the inning when Russell scored on a groundball to make it 5-1.
Tulsa mounted a comeback in the sixth inning. Claira Skaggs and Maci Cole both reached base with singles, setting the stage for Russell's three-run homer to deep right field. This brought the Golden Hurricane within one run, with the score standing at 5–4, East Carolina, by the end of the sixth inning.
Despite a single by Vickrey in the seventh inning, Tulsa was unable to score, and East Carolina secured the win.
Tulsa takes on Oklahoma State on Wednesday in its final mid-week game of the season before flying out to Charlotte to close the regular season.
