Erich Anthony is in his fourth season as The University of Tulsa’s assistant athletic director for athletic performance. He was named to his present position in January 2018.
Anthony oversees the athletic performance staff and works directly with the sport of football. He came to Tulsa with eight years of strength & conditioning experience on the collegiate level.
Prior to his appointment at Tulsa, Anthony spent the 2017 season as the associate director of applied performance at the University of Texas, working with football. Before that, he served 1½ years as director of applied performance for the University of Missouri football program.
Previously, Anthony spent six years at Iowa State University, first as a student assistant, then as a graduate assistant before his promotion to a full-time strength & conditioning position in the spring of 2013.
Anthony has been involved in every aspect of strength & conditioning –– from developing, implementing and monitoring speed, strength and conditioning programs; developing nutrition programs for student-athletes to managing budgets. He also assisted with the design of a new Iowa State football weight room facility.
During his time as a student, Anthony also worked as the strength & conditioning coach at Ames (Iowa) High School, organizing and implementing strength and agility programs for the sports of men’s basketball, softball, volleyball and football.
Anthony earned his bachelor’s degree in kinesiology and health in May 2012, and a year later received his master’s degree in higher education, both from Iowa State.
He and his wife, Jillian, have two children: son, Levi, and daughter, Collins.
