2011-12: (Indoor) Finished third at the Conference USA Championship in the 5,000m run with a mark of 14:23.42, which was the fourth-fastest time recorded in school history . . . named to the all-C-USA Third Team . . . also placed fourth at the league meet in the 3,000m run in 8:13.20 . . . placed fifth in the mile at the Arkansas Last Chance meet with a career-best time of 4:07.04 . . . (Outdoor) Competed at the NCAA West Preliminary for the first time in his career in the 3,000m Steeplechase, advancing to the NCAA Championship by finishing fifth in 8:51.03 . . . won the Conference USA Championship in the steeplechase for the second-straight year . . . named to the all-C-USA First Team . . . also placed second in the 5,000m at the league meet with a career-best mark of 14:18.22, earning him a spot on the all-C-USA Second Team . . . school-record mark of 8:43.79 in the steeplechase came in a fifth-place performance at the Mt. 2010-11: (Indoor) Competed in five meets . . . was honored as a member of both the all-C-USA Second Team and the all-C-USA Third Team for his performance at the conference meet . . . finished second in the 5,000 at the Conference USA Championship in 14:27.56, which was the third-best time in school history . . . also placed third in the 3,000m in a personal-best mark of 8:17.83 . . . was the anchor of the Distance Medley Relay team that ran the fourth-fastest time in school history (9:48.07) at the Tyson Invitational . . . (Outdoor) Stones participated in five meets . . . captured the Conference USA Championship in the 3,000m Steeplechase with a mark of 9:13.20 and was named to the All-Conference First Team . . . broke the school record in the same event at the Mt. SAC Relays in a time of 8:50.12, which also qualified him to run in the NCAA West Preliminary . . . he was unable to run at regionals due to injury.
2009-10: (Indoor) Ran in four races . . . finished seventh in the 5,000 meters at the C-USA Championships with a personal-best time of 15:04.53 . . . finished first in the mile at the Razorback Invitational, and finished second in the mile at the Tyson Invitational with a career-best run of 4:12.77 . . . finished third in the 1,000 meters at the Wichita State Invitational . . . (Outdoor) Ran in five meets, including the NCAA Division I West Preliminaries where he ran the second-fastest time in school history in the 3,000m steeplechase (8:58.43) . . . was named to the all-C-USA Second Team after finishing second at the C-USA Championships in the 3,000m steeplechase . . . finished third in the 1,500 meters at both the John McDonnell Invitational and the Tulsa Duels.
2008-09: (Indoor) Competed in five meets . . . placed 13th in the mile at the C-USA Championship with a mark of 4:29.15 . . . ran in the 800m preliminaries at the conference meet . . . ran the 800m in 1:59.08 at the Razorback Invitational . . . turned in a personal-best time of 4:19.58 in the mile-run at the Tyson Invitational . . . High School: A four-time letterwinner in track and cross country at Round Rock High School . . . named all-state during his senior campaign . . . was the district mile champion with a personal-best time of 4:18 set at the Schrader 1600 as a senior . . . set the school record in the 3200m (9:25) at the prestigious Texas Relays during his senior year . . . won the regional cross country championship as a junior . . . finished in the top-5 at the state cross country championships running the 5K course in a personal-best time of 15:52 during his junior season . . . a three-time cross country team captain . . . high school head coach was Andy Jackson.
Personal: Majoring in exercise and sports science . . . as a youngster his school bus stop was one of the first stops on the route and about once every week he would give his backpack to a friend and race the bus to school . . . enjoys camping, disc golf and triathlons . . . son of Dave Stones and Christy Swanteson . . . has an older brother, Daniel.
