Spears Powers Tulsa Past TCU in Overtime, 2-1

Tulsa, Oklahoma - Tulsa midfielder Chris Spears scored two goals, including the game-winner with 22 second left in overtime to give the Hurricane a 2-1 Missouri Valley Conference victory over TCU at Garvey-Rosenthal Stadium in Fort Worth.

Tulsa improves to 7-3 overall and 2-1 in MVC play, while the Horned Frogs slip to 5-5 overall and 1-2 in conference play.

After a scoreless first half, TCU broke the game open when senior forward Doak VanEnk played a loose ball in front of the Tulsa net and slipped a shot past TU sophomore goalkeeper Brent Salter at the 53:42 minute mark. The Golden Hurricane knotted the contest at 1-1 when Spears tallied an unassisted score at the 76:43 mark.

In the overtime period, Salter kept the Hurricane in the game with several dynamic saves. But with 22 seconds remaining in the first overtime period, Spears collected a pass from sophomore Mario Gonzalez and nailed the game-winner for Tulsa.
