TU Golfers Leading After First Round at Husky Invitational

Port Orchard, WA - After one round at the Husky Invitational at the Trophy Lake Golf/Casting in Port Orchard, Washington, the Tulsa Golden Hurricane men's golf team is tied with Oregon for first place after a four-over par round of 364 today.

The Hurricane is paced by sophomore Billy Lowry who posted a four-under par 68 for the first 18 holes. Lowry has a two-stroke lead over Pepperdine's Randy Creighton and leads by three shots over San Jose State's Nate Whitson and Jim Seki of Stanford.

Co-leaders Tulsa and Oregon headed into the second 18 holes of the day with a one stroke lead over Pepperdine, while UCLA (375) and host Washington (378) rounds out the top-five teams in the 10-team field.

Tulsa's freshmen duo of Logan Goettsch and David Inglis are tied for fifth place after shooting even-par 72s today on the first round. Junior Kevin Henry carded a two-over par 74 for 16th place after the first round. Freshman Neil Trimm's round of 78 was the fifth score that counted for the Hurricane, while senior Shawn Matthews posted an 18-hole total of 79.

The second round is expected to be completed later tonight. The third and final round will be played on Tuesday.
