Tulsa Tops Hawaii, 79-67

TULSA, Okla. - David Shelton had 18 points and Kevin Johnson 16 as four Tulsa players scored in double figures in a 79-67 win over Hawaii on Sunday.
The victory gave Tulsa (14-6, 5-2 Western Athletic Conference) sole possession of second place in the league and its fourth straight win.
Hawaii (8-10, 2-5) remains winless on the road. Predag Savovic, Hawaii's scoring leader this season, had 20 points along with Tory Ostler. But Savovic fouled out with 1:07 left as the Warriors tried to get back in the game.
Johnson had 14 rebounds for Tulsa and Puida Nerijus led Hawaii with 11. Marcus Hill had 14 points for Tulsa and Dante Swanson had 11.
Greg Harrington's 3-pointer at 14:39 widened Tulsa's lead to 54-43. But Hawaii's 15-5 run, capped by Puida's bucket at 8:16 narrowed Tulsa's lead to one. Hawaii wouldn't get closer.
Tulsa led 38-31 at the end of the first half, in which the lead changed eight times.
Tulsa opened scoring but Hawaii answered with a 3-pointer from Troy Ostler to take the first lead. Hill's bucket at 14:32 gave Tulsa a 13-11 lead. But the Warriors went on an 11-7 run to take their third lead on the first of two free throws for Mindaugas Burneika.
Charlie Davis put Tulsa back on top at 2:57. The lead changed two more times, but Tulsa managed an 8-2 run to close out the period.
A moment of silence was observed before the game for the players, staff and media officials of Oklahoma State University who died in a Saturday plane crash in Colorado.
