WAC Teams Up With Komen Foundation

TULSA, Okla. -- The Tulsa Affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation has been named as the official charity of the 2002 Williams Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Basketball Tournament. The tournament will be held March 5-9, 2002 at the Donald W. Reynolds Center and will feature both the men's and women's teams from each of the WAC's nine member universities: Boise State, Fresno State, Hawai`i, Louisiana Tech, Nevada, Rice, San Jose State, SMU, UTEP, and Tulsa.

From February 4 - 15, a percentage of all-session ticket proceeds will be donated to the Komen Foundation to support their mission. Last year, the Western Athletic Conference along with Williams donated $10,000 to the foundation.

The Foundation was founded in 1982 to eradicate breast cancer as a life threatening disease by advancing research, education, screening and treatment. As the country's most progressive grassroots organization fighting breast cancer today, the Komen Foundation has more than 40,000 volunteers working through 114 Affiliates in the United States, Germany, Greece, and Italy.

All session packages include one ticket for each of the nine tournament sessions. The packages are priced at $125 and can be ordered by calling the Tulsa Sports Commission at (918) 560-0205.
