Eugene, Ore. - The University of Tulsa's most decorated runner, senior Fride Vullum, completed her collegiate career with her best ever finish at a national championship. Finishing sixth at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Eugene, Ore., Vullum helped the women's track squad to it's best finish ever at a national competition as well, 40th place overall. The Golden Hurricane tied with in-state rivals Oklahoma and Oklahoma State as well as five other teams.
Vullum clocked a time of 16:04.96 in the final heat of the 5,000-meter run to finish sixth out of the field of 23 runners. Two weeks ago, Vullum won the Western Athletic Conference title for the event after posting a stadium record time.
A senior who only competed in the outdoor season this year, Vullum is a part of nine school records at TU. She also holds the WAC record for 5,000m. She is the only TU runner to ever win three conference crowns in a single season. She is also the only TU runner to ever qualify for the NCAA Championships for Cross Country, Indoor Track and Field and Outdoor Track and Field.
