FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Tulsa men's track concluded their outing at the NCAA West first rounds Friday, with a school record being downed and two personal-best performances.

The day began with Luke Birdseye in the 3,000-meter steeplechase quarterfinals. Competing in the second heat, Birdseye placed seventh in the 16-man field and finished 16th overall. He crossed the line in a personal-best 8:41.79, one of two Golden Hurricane personal records on the day and the third-fastest mark in program history.

Evan Sanni-Thomas followed in the 400-meter quarterfinals and delivered a record-breaking performance. Just two days after running within 0.01 seconds of the school record in the opening round, Sanni-Thomas clocked a 45.63 to set a new Tulsa record. The Woodlands, Texas, native finished 13th overall, narrowly missing a berth to the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Ore., by one position.

Charlie Krasnoff closed out the men's competition in the 5,000 meters. Krasnoff placed 13th in his heat and 34th overall.

The Golden Hurricane will wrap up competition at NCAA West on Saturday as Sara Morefield and Kathryn Koonts take the track in the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase quarterfinals at 5:40 p.m. CT.
