Tucson, Arizona - After the first round of the Ping Arizona Intercollegiate at the par-71 Raven Golf Course at Sabino Springs, Tulsa is in seventh place in the field of 20 teams, seven of which are ranked among the nation's top-25. Following first round action, the second round of competition began, but was suspended due to darkness.
Tulsa began the tournament with an opening round 288, as the four-over par score is seven strokes off the pace of team leader Southern California. Rounding out the top-5 teams are New Mexico (282), Oklahoma State (283), Pepperdine (286) and California (287).
Sophomore Neil Trimm carded a first round two-under par 69 to pace the Hurricane, while fellow sophomore David Inglis and senior Kevin Henry scored opening rounds 72's. Trimm is in a sixth-place tie, while Inglis and Henry are two of 16 golfers tied for 24th place. Rounding out Tulsa's scores were sophomore Chris Noel with a 75 and junior Billy Lowry's 79.
The second round of competition was suspended at 6:15 MST due to darkness. About two-thirds of the field still has holes to play, and some groups will have to finish two holes before the third round can begin.
Play will resume Tuesday, Feb. 5, at 7:30 a.m. MST with the completion of the second round. The final round will follow at approximately 8:30 a.m.
