Tulsa, Oklahoma - The University of Tulsa football team completed the first week of practice on Sunday afternoon. The Hurricane newcomers had four practice sessions before being joined by the varsity on Friday.
"I'm pleased with the way things have gone in these first few days. We've had five practices since the varsity reported and we've made improvement in each one," said Head Coach Keith Burns.
Tulsa worked exclusively on the kicking game during Saturday's late practice, and returned to the field Sunday afternoon for a solid workout.
"Our offense is starting to jell. We went through a scrimmage situation today, and the offense completed a long touchdown pass, but on the next play the defense came up with a turnover, which is a great sign," added Burns.
Burns cited the play of the receivers today, "we have some great athletes at the wideout position. I was impressed with them during our one-on-one pass drills." Overall Burns has also been pleased with the overall conditioning of the team, and the retention from spring drills.
Tulsa will be back on the practice field for two workouts on Monday, one of two which will be full pads.
