Hurricane Harriers Win Seven Events at Holiday Inn Invitational

Lincoln, Neb. - The University of Tulsa crowned six individual champions and one relay team at the Holiday Inn Invitational in Lincoln, Neb., on Saturday.

Junior sprinter Shana Robinson led the TU charge with another NCAA provisionally qualifying performance in the 60-meters. Her time of 7.38 in the finals of the 60-meters also broke her own school record in the event. Earlier this season, she clocked a 7.41 at the Oklahoma Invitational.

Four more TU women won their races as well. Senior Monica Joannes won her second meet of the season in the 600-yard run with a time of 1:23.09. Earlier this season, she broke the school record for the event in winning the Oklahoma Invitational. Fellow senior Sarah Haskins won the 3,000-meter run with a time of 10:21.38.

Sophomore Melanie Hardy won the 800-meter run with a time of 2:13.32. She also finished second in the 600-meter run with a time of 1:24.01. Freshman Megan Langwell also won the 1,000-meters with her winning time of 3:01.27.

On the men's side, sophomore Justin Rempel won the 1,000-meter run with a time of 2:28.86. The men's 4x400-meter relay team of Branon Vaughn, Josh Childs, Clif Mitchell and Justin Lee posted a winning time of 3:18.02.

Other Hurricane athletes posting top-three finishes include: junior Owain Matthews (3rd in the 3,000-meters); senior Andy Norman (2nd in the 5,000-meters); junior Jason Krueger (2nd in the High Jump); the women's distance medley relay team (2nd) and the women's 4x400-meter relay team (2nd).
