Tulsa Men's Tennis Team Dominates Cowley County

Tulsa, Okla. - The 56th-ranked Tulsa men's tennis team defeated the Cowley County Tigers on Friday nigh at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center on The University of Tulsa campus.

TU dominated Cowley County, 7-0, winning all three doubles matches. Ryan Livesay and Alejandro Tejerina teamed up for the second time of the night, earning an 8-3 win over Ignacio Meius and Dean Clower in the No. 1 position, while John Matthews and Olof Sjolund defeated Jeff Stone and Derek Kellermann, 8-3, at the No. 2 slot. Also in doubles action for the Golden Hurricane, Shunsuke Shimizu and Ricardo Rojas teamed up for the first time and netted an 8-4 victory.

In the singles lineup against Cowley County, TU posted five straight-set victories, with Livesay defeating Meius, 6-3, 6-3, Tejerina defeating Carlos Fernandez, 6-2, 6-2, and Charpantidis winning over Dean Clower, 6-3, 6-4. Sjolund also netted a victory for TU with his win over Stone, 6-4, 6-0, while Rojas earned a 6-3, 6-4 win over Josh Cobble. Matthews, on the other hand, went into a super-tiebreaker against Trent James, finishing the match, 6-3, 5-7, 10-5.
