Tulsa Drops NCAA Tournament First-Round Match to Baylor, Caps Championship Season

WACO, Texas – Tulsa men's tennis saw its season come to a close Friday evening with a 4-0 loss to No. 10 seed Baylor in the first round of the NCAA Tournament in Waco, Texas.
The Golden Hurricane made their 20th NCAA Tournament appearance, and first since 2022, after securing the American Conference Championship and the league's automatic bid.
Baylor claimed the doubles point with wins on courts one and three. Gus Tettamble and Victor Tosetto were first off the court, falling 6-1 at the No. 3 position, while Calum Jestin and Connor Doig dropped their match to Baylor's No. 69-ranked duo of Alexandru Chirita and Zsombor Velcz on court one. The match on court two, featuring Nikita Volonski and Timothy Carlsson Seger, went unfinished with Tulsa holding a 5-4 lead.
In singles play, Baylor maintained momentum to secure the victory. Carlsson Seger was the first to fall, 6-2, 6-3, followed by Reiya Komagata on court five, who dropped a tightly contested 6-3, 7-5 decision. The match was clinched on court one, where No. 11-ranked Devin Badenhorst defeated Volonski in three sets, 6-0, 4-6, 6-1. The remaining matches were left unfinished as Baylor advanced with the 4-0 win.
Tulsa concludes its season with a 19-13 overall record, highlighted by a historic run to its first American Conference Championship in program history.
