Men’s Tennis Set for 20th NCAA Tournament Appearance, Faces Baylor Friday

WACO, Texas – Tulsa men's tennis is set to make its 20th NCAA Tournament appearance in program history, opening play on May 1 at 6 p.m. against regional host No. 10 Baylor.

The Golden Hurricane secured their spot with an automatic bid as American Conference champions.

The winner of the Tulsa–Baylor matchup will advance to face either Auburn (16-10) or Santa Clara (19-4) in the second round, with a berth in the super regionals on the line.
 
NCAA Tournament History
  • Tulsa has made 19 NCAA Tournament appearances prior to this season, all under head coach Vince Westbrook.
  • The Golden Hurricane last appeared in the tournament in 2022, falling in the first round.

  • Singles competition proved tightly contested, with first sets split evenly at three apiece. Tosetto extended Tulsa's lead with a commanding 6-1, 6-2 win, and Carlsson Seger followed with a 6-3, 6-4 victory to put the Hurricane one point away from the title.
  • Volonski's match provided the final push. He generated multiple match points in the second set, but Rice's Petro Kuzmenok fought back each time to force a tiebreaker. Volonski maintained composure under pressure and closed out the tiebreak 7-4, sealing the championship and earning American Conference Championship Most Outstanding Player honors.
