Tulsa, Oklahoma - The Tulsa football team was back on the practice field at 5:45 a.m. to begin the second week of spring drills. The Hurricane took two days off following a Saturday workout.
Head Coach Steve Kragthorpe was pleased with the retention from last week.
"I thought the retention was excellent. We didn't have to go back and re-teach a lot of things. We were able to show a little mastery of the things we installed last week, which now enables us to continue in terms of progression installation," said Kragthorpe. "I was pleased with the fact that we retained what we worked on last week. We didn't have to start from ground zero."
The Hurricane coaching staff has not ruled out the possibility of some position changes.
"I think we're still going through some position changes, particularly on the offense line. We're trying to get the right combination of the five best players. If it happens to be three tackles, then we'll have to move one into center or guard. We're still working with the combinations with those guys, and we're playing with some different things on defense," added Kragthorpe. "That's what spring is all about, trying to fit the pieces of the puzzle together and formulate a little better idea of where you're at going into the fall.
"As I've said before, the spring is only one-third of our preparation for the opener. We start to formulate some opinions, but you certainly don't make any decisions."
Kragthorpe has been pleased with the play of the quarterback position. "I think the quarterbacks are doing a nice job. They're starting to see things better and things are starting to make sense to them. It's repetition and seeing it over and over and over again. They're getting a feel for what we're trying to do offensively, and as they continue we'll add more dimensions to the offense," said Kragthorpe.
Tulsa will be back on the practice field Wednesday morning at 5:55 a.m.
