Tulsa, Oklahoma - The Tulsa football team was back on the practice field twice on Wednesday. The Hurricane practice in the morning on Harwell Field and worked out in the evening on the turf of Skelly Stadium.

"We're trying to simulate different conditions -- coming on the turf under the lights, playing on the grass, changing practice times -- and trying to keep ourselves guessing a little bit in terms of having to adjust and not get into a routine. We're trying to break up the monotony of camp and keep our minds fresh," said Head Coach Steve Kragthorpe.

Kragthorpe was pleased with today's workouts after not being pleased with Tuesday's practice session.

"We had two good practices today. The weather was excellent and spirits were up. We didn't have as quite a good practice as I would have liked last night, so we talked about coming back today and respond with two good ones. I thought we did that.

"We're starting to see the young guys pick some things u p well. We've had a lot of installation in 10 practices. We have pretty much put in the whole offense and defense, except for a few wrinkles. So I'm pleased with the way they're picking things up. Now we just have to go back and refine," said Kragthorpe.

Tulsa will practice once on Thursday and twice more on Friday. Kragthorpe will move Thursday's workout from an evening practice to late afternoon. The Hurricane will conduct a scrimmage on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. The scrimmage is open to the public.

"I'm anxious to see how our guys respond in Saturday's scrimmage. We can make a lot of evaluations on Saturday, because we'll simulate a game as much as we can. We're trying to create as much a game day atmosphere as possible and see how our players respond," added Kragthorpe.
