Robinson and Orozco Win at Arkansas Invitational

Fayetteville, Ark. - The University of Tulsa track team opened the 2004 indoor season at the Arkansas Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark. Seniors Shana Robinson and Ben Orozco got the season kick started by winning the women's 200-meters and men's unseeded 3,000-meters, respectively.
After finishing third overall in the 60-meters, Robinson broke her own school record by winning the 200-meters with a time of 23.99. She becomes the first female runner to break the 24-second barrier in the indoor 200-meters at TU.
Orozco led four Hurricane runners finishing in the top-10 of the 3,000-meters with a time of 8:52.09. Freshman Jason Schweitzer finished fourth in the same race with a time of 9:04.71. Fellow freshman Cory Ray finished fourth in the 60-meters with a time of 6.91, the team's fastest time since the 2000 season.
In total, the Golden Hurricane recorded nine top five finishes on the day. Junior Melanie Hardy finished third in the women's 800-meters with a personal best time of 2:11.42. The women's 4x400-meter relay team finished third with a time of 3:46.25.
On the men's side, senior Owain Matthews finished fourth in the mile run with a personal-time of 4:14.36. Freshman Louis Dailey finished fifth in the men's high jump with a leap of 1.85m (6'0.75").
The Golden Hurricane will travel back to Fayetteville next Saturday, Jan. 24, for the Razorback Invitational at the Randal Tyson Track Complex.
