Women's Mile Relay Team Wins at J.D. Martin

Norman, Okla - For the third time this season, in as many meets, senior sprinter Shana Robinson wins an event. One week removed from winning the 60-meters at the Razorback Invitational, Robinson won the same event at the J.D. Martin Invitational on Saturday in Norman, Okla.
The Tulsa, Okla., product qualified for the 60-meters final with the second fastest time in preliminaries. She then bettered that time with a mark of 7.47 in the finale. It was the only event she ran at the meet.
The women's mile relay team also finished on top, with a winning time of 3:55.14. The Tulsa "B" team also finished fifth in the mile relay with a time of 4:14.90.
Junior transfer Mary Carr finished third in the 200-meters with a time of 25.61, leading six TU runners in the event. Fellow junior Paula Richardson also finished third in the 400-meters with a time of 57.10, to beat out two more TU runners. Sophomore Shameka Holloway edged out junior Michelle Rodgers for third with at time of 58.91. Rodgers' fourth-place time was 59.61.
Senior Chatney Noble finished third in the 600-yard with a time of 1:25.23. Junior Natalie Rasmussen also finished third in the 3,000-meters with a time of 10:41.65.
A trio of Hurricane women also posted fourth-place finishes. Junior Melanie Hardy recorded the second-fastest 1,000-meter run with a time of 2:59.41. Senior transfer Mikaela Montell posted the third fastest mile run in school history with a mark of 5:05.64. Freshman Amy Reeves finished fourth in the 800-meters with a time of 2:27.40.
On the men's side, senior Owain Matthews finished third in the mile run with a personal-best time of 4:13.67. Junior Jamal Bogle posted a personal-best time of 8.27 in the 60-meter hurdles, en route to fourth-place finish in the final.
A trio of freshmen also set new personal highs on the evening. Sprinter Cory Ray trimmed his 200-meter time down to 22.52. Distance runners Jason Schweitzer and Andrew Beard both trimmed times in the 3,000-meter run as well.
