SHREVEPORT, La. (AP) - Ryan Moats rushed for 205 yards and scored two touchdowns as Louisiana Tech defeated Tulsa 38-21 Saturday night.
Moats, who entered the game as the third-ranked rusher in the nation, had TD runs of 5 and 29 yards and totaled 31 carries in his seventh career game gaining 200 yards or more. He averaged 6.6 yards per run.
The Bulldogs' defense sealed the victory by stopping the Golden Hurricane four times inside the 20-yard line, including a goal-line stand late in the third quarter.
Tech (5-5, 4-2 Western Athletic Conference) also recovered two on-sides kicks in ending a two-game losing streak.
Tech had a 21-7 lead before Tulsa (2-8, 1-6) bounced back to tie the score at 21-21 in the second quarter on a 22-yard run by Uril Parrish.
Parrish gained 118 yards on 22 carries.
The Bulldogs took the lead for good with 3:12 left in the second quarter on Matt Kubik's 3-yard quarterback keeper, then went up by 10 on Danny Horwedel's 40-yard field goal with 8:31 to play in the game.
Tech's other scores included a 24-yard pass from Kubik to wideout Eric Newman and a 16-yard return of a blocked punt by Mark Dillard.
Tulsa's James Kilian completed 13 of 27 passes for 156 yards, but he was intercepted twice.
He threw an 11-yard TD pass to Garrett Mills in the first quarter to pull the Golden Hurricane to within a touchdown.
Bulldogs' linebacker Byron Santiago had 12 tackles and a fumble recovery.
