New York, NY - University of Tulsa junior kickoff returner Ashlan Davis (Mesquite, Texas) was named to the SportsIllustrated.com All-America first team, it was announced today.

Davis established two NCAA records and became the school's single-season kickoff return leader. He ranked second nationally in kickoff returns with 37 returns for 1,131 yards, five touchdowns and a 30.6 average per return.

On the season, he had five kickoff returns for touchdowns, including four in consecutive games. Davis had a 100-yard return against #18-ranked Boise State (10-16-04), 94 yards against Nevada (10-23-04), 83 yards against Rice (10-30-04), a 96-yarder vs. SMU and a 74-yard return in the season finale against #24-ranked UTEP.

Davis broke the previous NCAA record of three for most kickoff returns in a season, and also set the NCAA record (4) for a return for a touchdown in consecutive games. The previous mark of three consecutive games with a kickoff return for a touchdown was set in 1970.

He also caught 30 passes for 462 yards, a 15.4 average and one touchdown from his receiver position. Davis compiled a team-leading 1,660 all-purpose yards this year.

Davis was named to the Western Athletic Conference first-team all-league squad last week.
