Tulsa's Golfers Struggle at NCAA Central Regional

West Lafayette, Indiana - The Tulsa men's golf team is in 20th place in a field of 27 teams following the opening round at the NCAA Central Regional on the par-72 Kampen Course of the Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex. The Hurricane carded a first round score of 314.
Oklahoma State leads the field with a one-under par 287, followed by Texas A&M (292), Purdue (295), Texas and Kentucky (298), Kansas State (300), Kent State (301), Minnesota, Wichita State, Ohio State and SMU (302), all tied for eighth place. The top-10 teams following Saturday's final round will advance to the NCAA Championships.
The Hurricane was led by freshman Sam Korbe, who carded a three-over par 75, while senior David Inglis is next in line for the Hurricane following his opening round 77. Korbe is tied for 34th place, while Inglis is in a tie for 58th place. A pair of freshmen, Mitch Cohlmia and Ryan Henry carded rounds of 80 and 82, respectively, while senior Chris Noel had an 84 today.
Individually, Texas Jason Hartwick, Texas A&M's Andrew Parr and Oklahoma State's Casey Wittenberg sit in a three-way tie for first place with three-under par rounds of 69 today.
The tournament will continue on Friday with another 18 holes.
