Tulsa Golfers Finish in Fifth Place at Jerry Pate National

Birmingham, Alabama - The Tulsa men's golf team jumped four spots in the standings on the final day at the Jerry Pate National. The Hurricane turned in the best round of the day with an 11-under par 273 total, jumping from ninth place at the start of the day into fifth place to conclude the tournament.
Tulsa and Brigham Young finished the 54-hole tournament with a five-under par 847 totals at the par-71 Old Overton Club, tying for fifth place and finishing just five strokes behind third-place UAB. Second-ranked Georgia Tech captured the team title with a 24-under par score, finishing six strokes ahead of top-ranked Georgia.
Rounding out the teams were fourth-place Alabama, BYU and Tulsa in fifth place, Clemson, Auburn, August State, Arizona, TCU and Vanderbilt.
Tulsa juniors Sam Korbe and Ryan Henry fired final round scores of five-under par 66s on Tuesday, while Mitch Cohlmia also carded a sub-70 score with a two-under par 69 score.
Korbe finished in seventh place overall with a five-under par 208 total, while Cohlmia placed 11th overall with a three-under par 210. Henry was the third Hurricane golfer to finish among the top-15, as he placed 14th overall with a 212 total.
Brett Myers finished in 39th place after a final round 72 for a 217 total, while red-shirt freshman Ryan Brooks placed 60th after scoring a 239 total in his first collegiate tournament.
UAB's Garrett Osborn captured individual medalist honors with a 16-under par total of 197. The next closest golfers were Georgia's Chris Kirk and BYU's Jake Ellison, both nine strokes back at 206 for the tournament.
Tulsa is in action next at The Landfall Tradition, October 28-30, in Wilmington, North Carolina.
