Tulsa Golfers in Second Place at VCU Mattaponi Springs Shootout

Ruther Glen, Virginia - The Tulsa golfers are in second-place following two rounds at the Mattaponi Springs Collegiate Shootout. The Hurricane men carded rounds of 280 and 286 on Monday for a 10-under par 566 score at the par-72 Mattaponi Springs Golf Course.
Tulsa will begin Tuesday's final round eight strokes behind first-place Wake Forest. The Demon Deacons have an 18-under total for first place.
Rounding out the top-five teams in the 14-team field are Kent State (567), Xavier (569) and North Carolina (574). East Tennessee State (578), Virginia Tech (579) Maryland (580) has placed from sixth thru eighth after the first day of competition, while Missouri, Richmond and UNC-Wilmington (584) are tied for ninth place.
For the Hurricane, juniors Ryan Henry and Brett Myers are among the top-10 golfers in the field of 75 players. Henry fired rounds of 71 and 69 for a four-under par 140 and sits in seventh place, while Myers shot a three-under score of 141 with rounds of 67 and 74 for 10th place.
Fellow junior Mitch Cohlmia is in 16th place after carding rounds of 72 and 71 for a one-under par score of 143. Freshman Nicolas Geyger is in 33rd place following rounds of 70 and 77 for a three-over par 147 total. Another junior, Sam Korbe, carded rounds of 76 and 72 for a 39th place total of 148.
A pair of Wake Forest golfers is one-two in the individual race, totaling 21-under par between them. Kyle Reifers has an 11-under score with rounds of 67 and 66 for a score of 133, while teammate Webb Simpson is 10-under par with rounds of 65 and 69 for a 134 total.
Final round action will begin Tuesday morning.
